Hello, everyone.
Our beloved father, U Myint Soe, has been courageously fighting for his life over the past few months. He's a husband and a father of 3, who served as a voluntary dentist under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jamaica. He's also a proud member of the Buddhist & Burmese Association of Jamaica. He has always been a symbol of strength and resilience to our family – a kind, caring soul who has supported so many others in their time of need. Now, he needs our help.
International Medical Transfer – St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tampa, Florida
After months of critical care in Jamaica, our dad was recently internationally transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida, in a final effort to access the intensive, specialized treatment he urgently needs to survive and recover.
His Medical Journey So Far
Our dad is a known patient with:
Pulmonary Fibrosis (diagnosed via CT scan in 2024) with restrictive lung disease
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
On December 28, 2024
He was rushed to the ICU at Cornwall Regional Hospital in Jamaica due to sudden breathing difficulty and drowsiness. He even lost consciousness briefly. After ventilator support and intensive treatment for over 3 months, he made remarkable progress and was weaned off the ventilator. We began preparing for his discharge with a home setup that included:
A home ventilator
Oxygen concentrator
Mobile suction system
Backup generator
All sourced by our family to support him as best we could.
April 5, 2025 – The Setback
Our dad suddenly became unresponsive for 8 hours while still admitted to the hospital ward. Doctors feared the worst. He was resuscitated, but this marked a new, devastating phase. Within hours, he experienced seizures and lost the ability to speak or recognize us.
For 3 days, due to lack of ICU space in the country, doctors and interns manually bagged him to keep him alive. It was only through the relentless dedication of the hospital team that he was stabilized in an HDU (High Dependency Unit) bed – barely hanging on, but still fighting.
We’ve Exhausted All We Have
Our family has poured everything into his care. Emotionally, physically, and financially, we’ve done everything in our power to keep him going. But now, we’ve reached our limit.
To give our father a fighting chance, we’ve arranged for his international medical transfer to the United States, but the costs are enormous – hospital fees, specialist care, continued ventilator support, accommodation, transportation, and long-term rehabilitation.
How You Can Help
We are humbly asking for your support in any way possible. Your donation will go toward:
Hospitalization and ICU care in the U.S.
Emergency transport and equipment
Long-term recovery and rehabilitation
Medications and specialist consultations
No amount is too small. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others could make all the difference.
From Our Family to Yours
This journey has been one of uncertainty and heartbreak, but also of hope and miracles. Our dad is still with us – he’s still fighting – and with your help, we can get him the care he needs to recover and return home.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
With gratitude,
His Loving Family.
