Hi, my name is Megan Murphy. I am part of a small film crew in Ireland working on a short called Bigfoot Lover — an absurd, dark romance that examines the cyclical patterns we fall into when it comes to love.

Bigfoot Lover, centers around our main character Cute.

When we meet Cute, she’s heartbroken and alone, escaping to her late father’s home in the woods after a messy affair. In the wake of these poor decisions, Cute must face herself...but then she meets Bigfoot.

It’s heartfelt, unsettling, surreal — and yes, it stars Bigfoot.

As a team, we have been awarded the FilmOffaly Short Film Award 2025, which grants us a 12,000 euro bursary to make the film. All that money will go towards production of the film (crew, gear, locations, post, etc.).

The reason I have made this GoFundMe is that bringing a supposed mythical beast to life is going to take a lot of time, talent and materials that we can not cover in our budget.

Where the Money Goes:

We’re raising funds to create a realistic Bigfoot fur suit and custom prosthetics to bring our creature to life with depth and believability. Specifically, your donations will go toward:

A professionally made Bigfoot costume (high-quality fur suit, feet, hands, and body structure)

Detailed facial prosthetics to allow for expressive, lifelike acting

Makeup and FX artists to apply and maintain the prosthetics during filming

Supporting a small, passionate Irish crew working hard to make something special

Why It Matters:

In Bigfoot Lover, the creature represents something much deeper — a primal reflection of the things we chase in love, the roles we play, and the instincts we try to contain. To tell this story right, Bigfoot has to be believable and, dare I say, lovable.
