My name is Oliver, I am a senior at the Tisch School for the Arts (NYU), and I am currently fundraising to produce my film "Nowhere Near Home." I’d like to share my excitement about this project with you.

Have you ever gotten totally lost? No phone, no map, somewhere in the middle of the nowhere?

I had just moved to a foreign country for high school, didn’t speak the language, and was trying out for the cross-country team. Somehow, I managed to take the wrong turn in the forest on a 3K run and get utterly lost. For hours.

The experience trying to hitchhike back inspired the script for this film.

"Nowhere Near Home" tells the story of two feuding brothers who, after school, are left stranded, so they decide to hitchhike home. But their journey takes an unexpected turn when the driver collapses at the steering wheel. What starts out as a simple journey home soon spirals into a chaotic and darkly comedic scramble. Through this ordeal, the brothers are forced to confront their fears, take responsibility, and come to terms with each other.

This project is a New York University (NYU) Tisch thesis production, in collaboration with my independent production company, Vision Frog. With your support, we can bring this story to life.

Where the $10,000 Goes?

Every dollar raised goes directly into the physical production of the film and the safety of the cast and crew. As a student-led thesis project, we are working with a lean budget while holding ourselves to professional standards.

Camera ($1,000)

Covers cinema camera rentals and essential lenses to achieve a high-quality, cinematic image suitable for festival exhibition and professional portfolios.

Car Rigs ($800)

Specialized mounting equipment required to safely film driving scenes. These rigs allow us to capture key moments inside and outside the car without putting actors or crew at risk.

Grip & Electric ($500)

Lighting and rigging equipment used to shape the look of the film and ensure consistency across locations, especially for night and interior scenes.

Sound ($500)

Professional audio equipment to capture clean dialogue on set, especially outdoors — a critical element for storytelling that is often overlooked but essential to the film’s quality.

Production Design, Wardrobe, Hair & Makeup ($800)

Covers costumes, props, and character details that ground the story in reality and help define the emotional and visual world of the film.

Car Rentals ($600)

Vehicles needed for both the story itself and for transporting equipment and crew during production days.

Permits for Locations ($1,500)

Required permits to legally and safely film in public spaces, ensuring we can shoot without interruption and with full compliance with city regulations.

Transportation & Travel ($1,600)

Covers moving cast, crew, and equipment between locations, including gas, public transit, and logistical costs during the shoot.

Food & Lodging ($2,500)

Ensures that cast and crew are properly fed and housed during production. Providing meals and rest is essential for safety, morale, and maintaining a professional working environment.

Me llamo Oliver y estoy recaudando fondos para mi primera película "Nowhere Near Home", antes de graduarme en la Universidad de Nueva York.

¿En qué se invertirá el presupuesto de 10.000 $?

Grip & Electric / Iluminación (500 $)

Material de iluminación y soporte utilizado para construir la atmósfera visual de la película y mantener coherencia entre escenas, especialmente en interiores y rodajes nocturnos.
