Not Like Us is a psychological sci-fi short film about Ivy, a young woman uncovering the dark truths of life amidst an unexpected friendship. Four-years ago, Abby Kowalczyk and Iida Piironen met on none other than a film set, forming a friendship destined to become a creative partnership. Co-written by the two friends, Not Like Us was born out of the SAG-AFTRA strike of 2023. The film draws from Abby and Iida's experiences as creatives in an ever changing industry.

In New York City in the year 2030, modern technology is rapidly progressing and changing the world that Ivy thought she once knew. More jobs are being replaced every day, which Ivy, an aspiring songwriter, comes to discover when she’s laid off from her day-job leaving her to fight even harder for what she believes in. In this dark moment, she forms an unexpected friendship that carries her into a future no one dared to predict.
