Support Nahko's Road to Recovery

On Wednesday, April 30th, my sweet Corgi, Nahko, began to show signs that something was seriously wrong. He was unable to walk, his back legs giving out under him. He was panting excessively and had no interest in food or water. Even more concerning, his eyes were rapidly moving back and forth and he wasn’t blinking.

Since that incident Nahko has been fighting for his life. We’ve had two emergency vet visits, multiple overnight stays, and several rounds of treatment, including a plasma transfusion, multiple medications, and activated charcoal treatments. The biggest concern was and is his blood pressure, it was around 60 when I brought him in and it’s still not much better.

The staff at Overland Park Emergency Pet Hospital have been wonderful, constantly monitoring him and sending updates as they work tirelessly to figure out what’s making him so sick.

I’ve had Nahko for almost 5 years. At home, he has a close bond with his fur sister, Zelda, and wherever my son goes, Nahko isn't far behind. He was purchased during a season of grief for myself and my former husband as we tried and failed to have a child.

I can honestly say that without him, I don’t know how I would have gotten through that year. Being his mom healed my heart and that is why it’s devastating to realize I don’t have enough money to save his life.

So far, I’ve spent over $4,200 trying to get Nahko the care he needs and he still has at least two more nights of hospitalization ahead of him. I'm doing everything I can to support him, but the cost of his care is adding up fast.

Nahko is so much more than a pet, he’s family. He’s been with me through so many seasons of life, always bringing comfort, love, and joy. I’m doing everything I can to keep him here with us.
