UPDATE:
We have reached our goal, and I am beyond grateful. Thank you for the overwhelming generosity, love, and support shown to our family. We are closing the fundraiser with full hearts and so much appreciation for each of you. Thank you for being part of this journey.
I’m reaching out during a very tender and hopeful season for our family. I’m expecting our baby daughter this spring, and as the birth approaches, I’m hoping to bring my mother from Brazil to be with us during the delivery and the early postpartum weeks. Having her here would mean a great deal to me, both emotionally and practically, as we prepare to welcome our daughter.
At the same time, my mother has been dealing with recurring asthma and pneumonia, along with significant vision loss due to a cataract in one eye. After trying multiple treatments, her doctors in Brazil recommended two necessary procedures to stabilize her health before she travels: an injectable treatment to help control her asthma and reduce the risk of future pneumonia, and cataract surgery in one eye to restore vision and improve her safety and independence. Both procedures will be completed in Brazil prior to travel, which is the most medically and financially responsible option and avoids the risks of seeking care in the United States.
Why I’m asking for help: these treatments are not available through Brazil’s public health system in a timely way, making private care urgent. The medical costs total approximately $1,100, and round-trip airfare is $1,300.93, plus processing fees.
I’m committed to using any funds raised only for these medical and travel expenses, and I will provide updates as things move forward. Thank you for walking with us during this season. Your care, generosity, and prayers mean more than I can express.
