Help Bring My Mom Home Before Dementia Steals the Key

Donation protected
My mom has vascular dementia and end stage renal failure, for which she receives dialysis three times a week. When my dad died suddenly two years ago, we quickly realized how advanced her dementia had become. She could no longer live alone safely, and she needed more support than we could provide. I found an excellent memory care facility, and she’s happy there for the most part, but she still longs to live in her own home again. She’s lived there for more than 60 years, and when my dad passed away, she lost not only the love of her life, but her home and her cat all overnight. Dementia patients thrive in familiar environments, so I want to move her back home with a caregiver.

Unfortunately, her house flooded due to a crack in an upstairs radiator, causing catastrophic damage. The insurance company has refused to pay, and without the insurance payment, we haven’t been able to move forward with the repairs needed to make her home safe and comfortable again. She no longer has savings to pay for the memory care facility, and fixing her house will cost far more than we can afford. She needs immediate help to pay for her care until we can get payment from the insurance company to repair her home.

Seeing her struggle with dementia is heartbreaking and I'll do anything i can to make whatever time she has left on this earth as happy and comfortable as possible. So, while she can still remember her home and the memories she made there—raising her children, playing games with her grandchildren, cuddling with her cat, sitting on the porch with my dad—I'd love to move her back home. It's the one place she never forgets.

Please help me pay for the care she needs until we can repair her house and bring her home so she can live the rest of her life where she is happiest.

Thank you for any donation you can give. And if you can't afford to give, please share my mom's story with as many people as possible. Your help is desperately needed and sincerely appreciated.

Thank you!
