Hello everyone,
I never imagined I would have to write this, but our family is facing a very difficult and unexpected situation.
My husband, Timothy, a beloved husband, son-in-law, brother-in-law, brother, and uncle, is currently stranded in Jamaica and unable to return home to Canada. I am 7 months pregnant with our first child, and he has now missed the entirety of my third trimester so far.
What was meant to be a simple one-week trip, planned carefully and responsibly has turned into something we could have never imagined. Timothy was supposed to return with me on April 6th and begin a new full-time job on April 13th. Instead, I had to come home alone, and he has been stuck there ever since.
Timothy has been building his life in Canada since August 2021. He came as an international student and has worked hard to establish himself, always maintaining his legal status. He currently holds a valid open work permit until the end of 2027 and is actively working toward permanent residency. Despite doing everything, ongoing administrative issues within the system regarding his application have prevented him from re-entering the country.
This has put us in an incredibly difficult position. Timothy is unable to work, and I am now the sole provider while nearing the end of my pregnancy. I have been covering our household expenses, as well as his emergency legal fees, housing, and groceries while he remains stuck abroad for an unknown amount of time.
We are not asking for handouts, but we are in a situation we cannot manage alone. Any support would go directly toward legal fees, living expenses, bridging the gap while my husband is unable to start his new role, and helping us get Timothy home before the birth of our daughter.
His new employer has been extremely gracious and understanding during this period, but we still feel bad about how this is affecting everyone and time is running out. This has been an incredibly stressful and emotional time, and I am doing my best to stay calm and healthy for our baby while we navigate so much uncertainty. We just want to get him home in time to reunite our family in Canada and are hoping the IRCC will have some compassion in regards to our case.
If you are able to help in any way, whether through a donation or by sharing our story within your network, it would truly mean the world to us.
Please help us bring Timothy home in time to meet his daughter.
