Hi, my name is Nathaniel Moog, and I’m reaching out for help during the most painful and confusing time of my life.
My girlfriend, the love of my life, was recently taken by ICE and is currently being held in Allegany County Jail in New York. We were on a trip to celebrate my 19th birthday and had planned a simple getaway to see Niagara Falls. While following GPS directions, we accidentally crossed the Canadian border without realizing we had left the U.S. Just like that — a mistake anyone could make — changed our lives.
My girlfriend is originally from Guatemala and has been living in the United States for over four years. She’s a devoted member of her church, a Sunday school teacher, a babysitter, and a house cleaner. She’s just a few months away from completing Bible school and becoming a certified Bible teacher — something she’s deeply passionate about.
We’ve been together for over a year and had plans to get married. She is the kindest, most selfless person I know — someone who always puts others first. Now she’s stuck in jail, treated like a criminal, when all she ever did was try to do the right thing for her family and community.
We are heartbroken and desperate. I haven’t seen her since April 28th, 2025, and the legal fees to fight for her release and fair treatment are more than we can afford on our own. We need a good immigration lawyer, and time is not on our side.
