Help Bring My Father Home for Life-Saving Care

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ron Dorler, and I’m humbly asking for your help to bring my father, Ronald Dorler Sr.—an incredible man and proud U.S. Air Force veteran—home from Honduras to Maine via medical air ambulance.

In October 2024, while in Honduras, my father suffered a catastrophic stroke caused by a blood clot in the main artery supplying blood to the left side of his brain. The stroke was sudden, life-threatening, and required emergency surgery. In a country where immediate payment is required before treatment, I was blessed to raise the funds necessary for surgery that very night. The surgery saved his life—but complications soon followed.

A hematoma developed, causing irreversible damage to the left side of his brain. Within days, my father was left in a vegetative state.

After four weeks in the hospital, he was moved into my home, where he has required round-the-clock care from a dedicated team of nurses—three shifts per day. This care costs between $3,000 and $4,500 per week, including his medications and specialized nutrition. Since we are outside the U.S., none of these expenses are covered by insurance. Aside from a maximum $25,000 out-of-country reimbursement from the insurance company, everything has been out of pocket—and we are nearly out of funds.

I always believed that in a crisis like this, the U.S. Embassy or VA would help evacuate American citizens. Sadly, that’s not the case. The full cost of a medical air ambulance falls entirely on the family, with no financial assistance or reimbursement.

To bring my father home to Maine, where he can receive proper, ongoing medical care covered by insurance, we need to raise $57,000 $77,000 to help cover his initial recovery expenses or, if we’re unable to meet the cost of the flight, to continue his current care, therapy, and medical needs until we can.To bring my father home to Maine, where he can receive proper, ongoing medical care covered by insurance, we need to raise for the air ambulance alone. I’ve set the goal at

We need your help.

My father has always been the first to help others in need—family, friends, and even strangers. Now, he’s the one who needs help. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to getting him home and into the care he urgently needs.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity, your support, and your prayers.

With gratitude,
Ron Dorler
