My dad was enjoying a day at the beach in Maui, riding a wave with his body, when a sudden accident changed everything. He was knocked unconscious in the water and suffered a heart attack, along with a spinal injury and possible concussion. Thanks to the quick actions of bystanders, he received 15 minutes of CPR on the beach, which saved his life. Since then, he has been in the ICU for a week, relying on a ventilator and a tracheostomy to help him breathe. He has not yet been able to breathe fully on his own, and his recovery is uncertain.
Our family is facing the challenge of getting my dad home to California, where he can be surrounded by friends and loved ones. The only way to transport him safely is through a medical flight that can accommodate his ICU bed and provide nurse monitoring throughout the journey. In addition, he will need ambulance trips to the facility once we arrive. These costs are overwhelming for our family, but bringing him home is the best chance for his recovery and comfort.
We are reaching out for help and support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping us bring my dad home. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and prayers as my dad continues to fight and heal. Thank you for standing with us.
