Last Thursday, April 9th, our lives changed in an instant. My brother, Jorge Castaneda, was detained by ICE on his way to work. What should have been a normal day turned into a nightmare for our entire family. Since that moment, nothing has felt real. Everything happened so quickly. One minute he was on his way to work, focused on providing for his family, and the next, he was taken from us. It has been terrifying, not just for us, but especially for him, being locked up and not knowing what comes next or when he’ll be able to come home.

Jorge is a devoted husband and a loving father to his three children. He is the main provider for his family, and everything he does is for them. It is heartbreaking and deeply painful to see him treated like a criminal when all he has ever done is try to build a better life and support the people he loves. His sudden absence has left a huge void in our lives, emotionally and financially. His wife and children are now facing each day without him, and the weight of that reality is overwhelming. We are doing everything we can to bring him home, but the legal process is complicated and expensive.

The hardest part is the separation, the missed moments, the uncertainty, and the fear of not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
