Hi, I’m Leeanne Innes, the founder and passionate teacher at Tinkling Ivories Piano Studio in Colac. For years, I’ve been dedicated to making music education accessible to people of all ages and abilities, fostering creativity, confidence, and connection through the joy of playing music.

Our studio is in need of professional signage and fresh exterior painting to:

At Tinkling Ivories, we use Simply Music Piano, a breakthrough method that allows students to play great sounding contemporary, blues, classical and accompaniments from their very first lessons. We don’t teach traditional piano lessons—we teach a playing-based, easy approach that makes music learning accessible to everyone.

Our mission is to make long-term music education available in Colac so that future generations can experience the lifelong benefits of learning music.

My Personal Journey

I never imagined I would become a piano teacher. For many years, I worked in the highly stressful legal industry. Then, at the age of 29, my life changed dramatically—I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

During my treatment, I wanted something to do that was just for me, something uplifting. So, I decided to take up the piano again. It became a source of comfort, healing, and personal joy in one of the hardest times of my life.

After recovering, I returned to work in the legal field, but developed Fibromyalgia, a chronic illness that made it impossible to continue working full time. That’s when I discovered Simply Music, a revolutionary approach to learning piano that focuses on the joy of playing.

I knew then that I wanted to share this gift with others. Teaching piano not only allows me to look after my health, but it also enables me to do something deeply meaningful—helping others discover the same joy and freedom I found through music.

Today, Tinkling Ivories Piano Studio is more than just a place to learn an instrument. It’s a community space for creativity, healing, and connection, built from my own personal journey of resilience.
