Help Bring Montoya Benson Home for His Final Rest

Donation protected

Hello, I'm the son of this wonderful man, Montoya Renee Benson. My name is Sirr Benson, 23 years of age, and his oldest son seeking to get his affairs in order following his death. His family down in Texas and I are seeking any donation or contribution to memorialize him and arrange a funeral. Even before that, however, we at least would hope for the funds to move his body from Detroit, Michigan to Texas, a hefty task for his children and family. 5s, 10s, 20s, anything is appreciated, and we appreciate the time you'd take to read his story at least.

Montoya is a proud veteran of the Navy and served his time and was discharged after serving his time. He wore his honor proudly, met and touched many people who were veterans just like him, wishing to live a prosperous civilian life. Montoya, however, had a very big issue; he was an alcoholic. Montoya's drinking habit goes back even before I was born, getting blackout drunk, having to be found on the street, passed out on a couch, or found by police with much of his belongings missing. Montoya had a big heart through all his issues, though. He knew his struggle, and he fought it every day. The fight was invisible, and many people never knew. His disease was a strong one, but he fought it every day. He would make promises to be better, attend events, show up for family and friends. He would bare his soul to the world and did so proudly. This disease he had ultimately took his life. The one fight everyone will remember after his long battle is unfortunately the one he lost.

Montoya unfortunately did not leave much to make his memorial easy, however. Montoya died hundreds of miles from his birth home of Texas. He would speak to his family all the time many miles away. He would remember memories and stories of his time there. He would even talk about going back there with his children if he were just in a better spot. However, now it's up to his family and sons to at least fulfill that wish the best we can, to be home with his sons where he had wonderful memories. Montoya was unfortunately in between jobs, forgetful, or was just a victim of his nature to care and trust at times. He left no life insurance, nor did he keep up with his military documents, and unfortunately didn't leave power over his military affairs to his children, so we're all just taking shots in the dark every day since his passing to get closer to a lifeline he may have left us. Montoya didn't even leave a plan on what to do if he were to die. Montoya had hope he would live. It's not his fault for these mistakes. He wanted to live, to see his family again, to get back on his feet, to win his fight. Now it's our mission to get him home and finish his fight.

This man was a great one, and we will complete his mission to the best of our ability. He was a father who wished every day to be better, for his children to be happy and thrive, to beat his addiction and be present as the best role model he could. He was a veteran who came out hurt. He saw death, blood, pain, loss, and was haunted every day by what he saw. He came home and continued to speak with and help vets just like him, who were struggling with addiction, those who were far from home, those who had no family, and became one of their best allies to this day. Montoya Benson was a great man. He had flaws like every one of us, he fought them every day, wanted to be better every day, got up in the morning and said, "I'll try again." He struggled, and now his fight is over, his war is done, so let's try to send our soldier home and send him off with honors.

We need as far as we know 2200 to just get his body embalmed and flew over to Texas. The other funds will just help us with other cost. Holding the body at the place, fixing it up to at least be viewed, a decent service. 7000 is what we had in mind .
