On Tuesday morning, our Steiner Ranch community lost a truly special person. Milos passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, leaving behind his wife, Vesna, and their daughter, Sofia, a student at Vandegrift High School.
For so many families in Steiner Ranch, Milos was much more than the person you called when something in your home needed to be fixed. Over the years, he worked in countless homes throughout our neighborhood, and people trusted him not only because of the quality of his work, but because of the kind of person he was.
Milos was hardworking, honest, positive, and incredibly kind. He was always willing to help, always had a good attitude, and quietly became one of those people who made our community a better place simply by being part of it. So many of us opened our homes to Milos over the years, and he treated the people in them with genuine care.
His passing was completely sudden and unexpected, and Vesna and Sofia are now facing both an unimaginable loss and significant expenses they could never have anticipated. One of the most immediate is the cost of bringing Milos home to Belgrade, Serbia, where he can be laid to rest.
Vesna is an incredibly hardworking and proud person who would never be comfortable asking others for help. In addition to caring for Sofia as she approaches college, Vesna also financially supports and cares for her aging mother. Those of us who know and love this family want to make sure that, at this moment, Vesna does not have to carry everything by herself.
Vesna and Sofia have personally been there for my own family, including helping care for my children, and I know there are so many others in our community who have their own stories of Milos and his kindness.
This fundraiser is simply an opportunity for the community Milos served for so many years to now show up for his family.
Any contribution, large or small, will help with the costs of bringing Milos home to Belgrade, funeral and immediate expenses, and providing some stability for Vesna and Sofia as they navigate the months ahead.
If you are unable to contribute, sharing this fundraiser or leaving a memory of Milos for Vesna and Sofia would also mean so much.
Thank you for helping us surround this wonderful family with the same kindness and generosity that Milos showed so many of us.
