Honoring Michael Kahler - Help Bring Him Home
Donation protected
On February 25th, 2025, our beloved father, Michael Kahler, passed away after suffering a pulmonary embolism that caused his heart to stop. His passing came after a month-long battle following a stroke in late January, during which he received medical care at Makati Medical Center in the Philippines.
Our dad was a passionate, hardworking man who faced financial hardships in recent years, especially post-COVID. Unfortunately, he did not have the means to cover his medical expenses, leaving behind a hospital bill of 2.5 million Philippine pesos (approximately $45,000 USD). Due to this outstanding balance, the hospital is withholding documents we urgently need to finalize arrangements for his remains to be returned to the United States. Without these, we cannot proceed with the necessary legal and logistical steps, despite working closely with the U.S. Embassy and Loyola Memorial Crematorium.
My brother and I are now navigating legal proceedings to obtain these documents, but this, along with the outstanding hospital and medical bills, has created an overwhelming financial burden. We are humbly reaching out to those who knew and cared about our father, as well as anyone who may be willing to help. Your generosity will allow us to provide some form of payment to the hospital and doctors who cared for him, cover legal fees, and address other outstanding expenses related to his passing.
We deeply appreciate any support you can give—whether through donations or by sharing this fundraiser with others who knew our father. Thank you for your kindness and for helping us honor his memory by bringing him home.
With gratitude,
