My dog Merlin was only one year and seven months old, but in that short time, he filled my life with so much love and joy. Since he was a puppy, Merlin had suffered from random seizures, and just a month ago, he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia due to genetics. We were preparing to see a specialist and discuss surgery, but then his leg began to swell, and I became increasingly worried as his breathing grew labored and his gums turned pale.

Last Thursday, I took Merlin to the vet, where new X-rays revealed the devastating news: Merlin had osteosarcoma, a very aggressive and excruciatingly painful bone cancer that was eating away at his pelvis. The vet recommended putting him to sleep immediately to end his suffering. I begged for just 24 more hours with him, and then, with a heavy heart, I made the hardest decision of my life and said goodbye to my sweet boy.

Now, I am asking for help to cover the costs of Merlin’s euthanasia, cremation, and a memorial box with his nameplate, nose and paw prints, and keepsake jewelry. Having his remains and these special mementos will help me find comfort and keep his memory close. Any support to help me bring Merlin home and honor his memory would mean the world to me.
