For those who do and those who don’t know Mazie, Mazie is the first dog I’ve owned myself and I can easily say she’s my soulmate.
Her personality is beyond words. She has two emotions, happy and concerned; when she hears a hint of sadness in anybody’s voice.
She’s a three year old golden retriever and the title fits her perfectly. When you come through the door she greets you with huge butt wiggles, cries of happiness and she will pull the shoe off your foot in her soft mouth just to give it back as a gift to say “thank you for existing”.
She’s scared of thunder and when anybody speaks with a stern or firm tone. She will look at you with a drawn out groan if you get too serious just to remind you “i’m here, there nothing to be upset about .”.
Mazie got sick yesterday and we took her to the emergency vet. We had the scary and terrible news early this morning that she needed emergency surgery due to a foreign obstruction in her intestines and stomach. My heart fell when we were given the estimate…
We were able to see her before any procedures started and it hit me so hard seeing how sick she had gotten throughout the night. I cried so hard when I saw her suddenly throw up blood. My heart shattered to see her in that state.
But all while she was feeling sick and out of sorts, all that she cared about what me when she heard me cry.
She is my entire heart.
She is only 3 years old.
