Hello friends, family, and theatre lovers alike,

We are Out of Order, and we are raising funds for the premiere production of Masticate, running August 6-23 at The Player’s Theatre in NYC.

This production is especially meaningful because it is our largest and most ambitious venture to date for Out of Order, our multi media collective dedicated to producing bold new work and creating opportunities for emerging artists. Bringing a three week long production to life is an enormous undertaking, and we are very excited to take that next step.

Masticate is a dark comedy set inside a middling restaurant during a brutal summer heatwave. It follows a disgruntled Front of House team as they navigate impossible customers, economic anxiety, climate dread, and the strange connections people make when trapped together long enough.

Funny, messy and deeply human, Masticate asks what it means to care for one another in a world that often feels like it’s falling apart.

Like many new works, Masticate exists because a group of artists believe in it enough to dedicate- at this point, years- to bringing it to life. Independent theatre is where new voices are discovered and where new stories are given room to grow. All this being said, producing original work is expensive, and we need your help.

Our goal is to raise $7,000 to cover:

Artist stipends for our cast and creative team

Set construction and props

Costumes

Marketing and audience outreach

Rehearsal expenses

Printing programs and scripts

Every dollar raised goes directly to putting this production onstage and supporting the artists making it possible. It takes a village of actors, directors, writers, designers and audiences all coming together to make something happen. Whether you contribute $10, or $1,000, you become part of that process.
