Hi everyone,
My name is Erik J. Hatzenbuehler, and I'm reaching out as a dear old high school — and lifelong friend of Mark W. Brown. We've known each other since our teenage years (ca. 1983), sharing laughs, adventures, and life's ups and downs. Recently, Mark has faced a serious medical issue that's left him needing extensive caregiving. He's currently in a senior living center in Santa Clara for recovery, and the goal is to bring him back home where he can heal in a familiar, comfortable environment. That's where I come in — I'll be stepping up as his primary caregiver once he's discharged, handling the day-to-day support he needs to regain his independence and quality of life. Mark's condition has been debilitating, affecting his mobility and daily routines. The road ahead involves ongoing medical appointments, therapies, and adjustments to make sure he's as comfortable and healthy as possible. All funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards enhancing his quality of life.
This includes:
• Paying fees associated with his care and transition home.
• Covering gas and transportation costs to get him to doctor's appointments and check-ups.
• Supporting a special diet tailored to his nutritional needs during recovery.
• Funding physical and occupational therapy sessions to help him rebuild strength and skills.
• Handling miscellaneous expenses that inevitably arise with a serious illness, like adaptive equipment or unexpected medical supplies.
Every single dollar will make a tangible difference in easing this burden on both Mark, his family, and myself, allowing Mark to focus on healing rather than financial stress. If anyone would like verification that these funds are going straight to Mark's care, I'm happy to provide evidence — updates on how the money is being used, etc., or even a direct conversation. Transparency is important to me, and I want you to feel confident in your support. Mark has always been the kind of guy who lights up a room with his stories and kindness and has helped innumerable people in the past. He's also always been there for me in the past, and I would like to take this challenge on to help him regain some semblance of his former life at home. Whether you can donate a little or a lot, ANY amount is HIGHLY appreciated! Also, I understand if you cannot afford to donate at all — BUT...sharing this campaign on your own social media accounts would ALSO be highly appreciated and can work wonders.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and compassion.
With gratitude,
Erik
