Help Bring Marcus’s Family Home

Marcus McCarson was only 21 years old. He was a husband to Abby, a new father to their baby girl, Azzi, a United States Marine veteran, and had recently begun serving his community with the Franklin Police Department.

Marcus and Abby were doing what so many young families dream of doing — building a life together and working toward a home of their own.

They had been working with us at Splendid Living to purchase a home for their growing family. Their financing had been approved, with Marcus as the borrower, and they were moving forward toward finally having a place to call their own.

Then everything changed. On September 17, Marcus tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident. Just one day later, because the financing for the home was in Marcus’s name, the loan approval was canceled. In a matter of hours, Abby went from planning a future with her husband and their baby girl to grieving the loss of Marcus and facing the reality that the home they had been working toward was suddenly no longer within reach.

Recently, however, the bank reconsidered and is now willing to work with Abby to obtain the home with a loan in her name.

When we learned what had happened, we knew we wanted to do everything within our power to help finish what Marcus had started for his family. Our goal is to help Abby and Azzi get their home.

Splendid Living is doing everything we possibly can to make that happen. We are providing the home at cost, and we are working with contractors, crews, businesses, and members of the community to have as much of the labor and additional work donated as possible.

At this point, we have taken the cost down as far as we can, and we would love to have help from family, friends, and community members to make this transition as easy as possible for Abby and Azzi. Being a single mother and providing a home on one income is not easy in this day and age, so we would like to raise as much as we can toward the cost of their home.

There is already another GoFundMe helping support Abby and Azzi with their immediate needs, baby expenses, and the loss of Marcus’s income. This fundraiser is different. All money raised through this fundraiser will go specifically toward costs associated with their home.

Marcus was only 21, but he had already dedicated so much of his young life to serving others. He served his country as a Marine, began serving his local community through law enforcement, became a husband, and had just started one of the most important chapters of his life — being a father.

He was working toward giving his wife and daughter a home and a future together. We cannot bring Marcus back, and we cannot take away what Abby and Azzi are going through. But as a community, we can come together and make sure that one of the things Marcus was working so hard to provide for them is not lost.

Whether you can give $5, $50, $500, or simply share Marcus’s story, every donation gets Abby and Azzi one step closer to the home their family had planned.

Marcus spent his life serving others. Now we have an opportunity to serve his family.

Help us finish what Marcus started and bring Abby and Azzi home.
