Aloha everyone. My name is Jhenelyn, and I am the eldest granddaughter of our beloved Mama Dolly. I am writing this on behalf of my family with very heavy hearts. Mama Dolly passed away in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, just five days before Christmas, after facing health challenges with strength and grace. Some of her family here were able to say goodbye at the hospital, but her only living sibling, along with the rest of her family in the Philippines, didn’t get the chance to see her one last time.
Mama Dolly’s final wish was to return to the Philippines to be laid to rest and buried. Honoring this wish means everything to our family.
Mama Dolly was the heart of our family. She welcomed everyone with open arms and a caring spirit. No matter who you were or where you came from, she made sure you felt comfortable, loved, and never left hungry. She made her home a place of warmth, laughter, and safety, where everyone was treated like family.
Though she often had a stern expression, behind it was a playful spirit and a deeply loving heart. She showed her love through her actions, putting others before herself. She spent what she had on her family, household, or those who needed it, rarely saving anything for herself, because caring for her family mattered most to her. This selflessness was simply who she was.
She shared a deep and lifelong bond with her husband, our papa Indo. They supported and cared for each other through every season of life. Her passing leaves a profound emptiness in our family, and we hold our papa especially close in our hearts and prayers.
Bringing Mama Dolly home comes with significant costs. The transportation of her remains to the Philippines, along with funeral and burial expenses, is more than our family can manage on our own. We hope to raise the funds by January 16. If we cannot raise the full amount, all donations will still be used for funeral, burial, and related expenses.
During this time of grief, we trust in the Lord to guide us and give us strength. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us honor Mama Dolly’s final wish and give her the peaceful farewell she deserves. Even sharing this page or keeping our family in your prayers means the world to us.
