I have known Lucy and the Diamond family for over 50 years. She used to be my sister-in-law and will always be family in my heart. After several years fighting cancer, Lucy M. Diamond Schooley passed away on June 8, 2024, alone in an emergency room in Los Angeles, California. Her husband had passed away just 6 months prior. She was cremated and her cremains still reside with the Los Angeles city morgue. There is no family living in or near California to pick them up. The morgue does not ship cremains therefore a mortuary needs to be involved. The cremation was performed by the state. Upon release to the family, it must be paid for. The cost of the cremation is included in the fee to the mortuary which also includes permits, pickup and shipping to family or cemetery. In addition, there is the cost of interment and memorial marker.
Lucy was on Medicaid due to her long battle with cancer. She endured multiple surgeries. It’s a miracle she survived as long as she did. Due to this long battle, she was unable to work and she left no assets. Of humble means, family members are struggling with their own health problems and medical bills. Your compassion and generosity will help ease the burden of laying Lucy to rest.
Your donations will be used to pay the following expenses:
- cremation, permits, pick up and shipping. $1200.
- urn $100.
- opening/closing of grave $1200.
- memorial $600.
Please help her children lay their mother to rest in peace beside her mother and honor her memory.
