Help Bring Leonardo Marcelino to his Resting place

Donation protected

On September 5, 2025, our family lost our beloved father, Leonardo Marcelino in Hawaii. He faced many health challenges over the years, beginning with a kidney transplant nearly 17 years ago. Earlier this year, he suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized in January. Just last month, he underwent surgery for a stomach aneurysm, which led to complications and infection that ultimately took him from us.

We wish we had more time with him, especially for his 8 daughters and grandchildren who live far away and didn’t get to see him often. Six daughters live in California and the youngest two live in Alaska who just recently just lost their mother earlier this year. Our family’s hope is to bring him home to California so he may be laid to rest beside his parents in Delano, California. Burial expenses in Hawaii are very overwhelming and we humbly ask for any help with transporting him home to us. Every donation, no matter the amount, and every prayer means the world to us as we say our final goodbyes.

If you are unable to give, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean so much and help us reach others who may be able to support.

From our family to yours, we thank you with all our hearts for your love, support, and prayers during this time.

In Loving Memory of

Leonardo Cabasug Marcelino

December 5, 1953 – September 5, 2025

With profound love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Leonardo Cabasug Marcelino, who entered eternal rest on September 5, 2025, in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 71.

Born on December 5, 1953, in Sabang, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, Leonardo was the eldest of seven children born to Juan and Carolina Marcelino.

Leonardo’s journey was deeply rooted in both the Philippines and Hawaii. His father, Juanito, born in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, sought refuge with his parents in the Philippines during World War II, where he met and married Carolina. Together, they raised their family before eventually returning to Hawaii. Leonardo grew up on the island of Oahu, where he was surrounded by the strong bonds of his siblings and community.

As a young man, Leonardo moved to Delano, California, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of coworkers while working in the grape fields. A fisherman at heart, he later spent two decades working in Alaska before retiring back home in Hawaii, where he enjoyed his final years surrounded by loved ones.

One of the most remarkable parts of Leonardo’s story was his journey as a kidney transplant survivor. While on the donor list, he met a doctor during a fishing trip—an unexpected connection that would later play a role in saving his life. The transplant gave him renewed strength and added precious years with his family, which he treasured deeply.

His life’s path ultimately led him to God in his later years, where he found purpose, hope, comfort in his faith, and the peace of redemption.

Leonardo is lovingly survived by his wife, Marlyn, a devoted pastor; his eight children: Leilani, Lorelee, Marjorie, Josephine, Amanda, Alexandrea, Mercitacher, and Leilaila; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother Rizal; three sisters: Marilyn, Cita, and Cherly; and many nieces and nephews.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
