My sister Laura (Gurrola) Hetland and Leland's dad, Skyler Hetland, are facing the unimaginable loss of their young son, Leland, who recently passed away while living in Texas. Our family is heartbroken, and the pain of losing someone so young and full of life is overwhelming. Leland was not just their son—he was a beloved brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many. He was a talented athlete, especially in basketball, and was known for his kindness and sweet nature. His absence has left a huge void in our family and community.

Leland grew up in Byron, Wyoming for 15 years and attended Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley, before moving to Texas at the beginning of this year. Because Leland was in Texas, we now face the difficult and costly process of bringing him home to Wyoming. The expenses for the flight, funeral and all the necessary arrangements are more than we can manage alone. We want to honor Leland’s memory and ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible during this incredibly hard time.

Our grief is massive, and everyone who knew Leland is feeling this loss deeply. We are reaching out for help because we want to give Leland the farewell he deserves and bring him home to rest among those who love him most.
