Support Laura’s Journey — Helping Us Cover Emergency Medivac

Donation protected
We originally set up this page to help bring Laura home for an urgent medical evacuation. Thanks to the incredible support of close family, who stepped in immediately and covered the costs on credit cards, we were able to make that happen. We’re so grateful to say that Laura is now safely home with Mum and Dad, receiving care at Papworth Hospital.

Right now, that’s what matters most.

However, this next stage of Laura’s journey is just as critical. She is now being assessed and prepared for a lung transplant, and we’ve also been faced with the very real possibility of ECMO support along the way. It’s a lot to take in, and the road ahead is uncertain.

While we never expected anything when we first set this up, the reality is that we now need to repay the family members who helped us act so quickly in an emergency. Because of that, we’ll be keeping this fundraiser open and adjusting the target to reflect the ongoing costs and the support we need moving forward.

Please don’t feel any obligation — just knowing Laura is home and getting the best possible care means everything to us. But if you are able to support or share, it truly does make a difference as we continue this journey.

Thank you for being part of it with us.

Lauras full story is below….

My beautiful sister, Laura Storr, is 35 years old and was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in 2022 — a serious and progressive lung condition.

A few years before her diagnosis, Laura moved to Saudi Arabia after being scouted by her franchise company, 1Rebel, to work as a spin instructor — something she absolutely loved and thrived in. She built a life doing what she was passionate about, inspiring others every day.

Over the past four years, Laura’s health has gradually deteriorated. Her condition has now progressed into an extremely rare and severe form of the disease, affecting only around 1 in 10 million people, for which there is currently no approved medication.
The only option now is a lung transplant.

The journey to get Laura home has been incredibly traumatic. We faced months of uncertainty, coordinating a medical evacuation while conflict escalated in the region. It was a race against time, filled with fear and unknowns.

Thankfully, Laura is now safely back in the UK, along with my mum and dad. But we have quickly realised that this was just one hurdle in a much bigger and more frightening journey.

Laura is now being cared for at Royal Papworth Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in the world for heart and lung care, where she is receiving the very best treatment possible.

Time is critical. We are now waiting for Laura to undergo ECMO (a life-support machine that supports the heart and lungs) while she awaits a suitable lung transplant.

This is an incredibly scary and uncertain time for all of us, but we are taking each day as it comes — holding onto hope, strength, and the love that surrounds her.

Thank you so much for the bottom of our hearts.
