Lamiah Blackwood is only 26 years old… but right now, she is living a nightmare no young woman should ever have to face.
She is being held in a prison in Jamaica, alone, frightened, and far away from everything and everyone she knows. The conditions she is living in are extremely poor, and each day is filled with uncertainty and fear.
But what makes this even more heartbreaking… Lamiah is pregnant.
Instead of preparing for motherhood surrounded by love, care, and support, she is facing this terrifying situation in a foreign country — without her family, without proper comfort, and without the safety every expectant mother deserves.
Lamiah is vulnerable. She struggles with her mental health, has autism, and is under the care of a psychiatric team in the UK. The environment she is currently in is overwhelming, distressing, and completely unsuitable for someone who needs stability, understanding, and care — especially during pregnancy.
This trip was never meant to end like this. Lamiah travelled to Jamaica simply to spend time with her partner, the father of her unborn baby — to build on their relationship and create happy memories. What should have been a positive and meaningful time has turned into something we are still struggling to come to terms with.
As a family, we are broken. We feel helpless knowing that Lamiah is going through this alone, in conditions we cannot control, while carrying a child who deserves a safe and healthy start in life.
From just 15 years old, she worked hard, went on to university, achieved her Business degree, and even completed her Master’s. She has held responsible roles, including working as a bank manager, and more recently helping international students come to the UK to study — supporting others to build better futures.
This situation is completely out of character and has at a complete disbelief to everyone who knows her.
We are now facing overwhelming legal fees and urgent costs that are rising faster than we could ever have imagined. This has all happened so suddenly, and as a family, we are struggling to keep up.
We are asking — from the bottom of our hearts — for any help you can give.
Your donation will go towards securing the legal support Lamiah desperately needs, ensuring she is treated fairly, and helping us bring her home safely — where she belongs, where she is loved, and where she can receive the care she urgently needs.
If you cannot donate, please share her story. Even that could make a life-changing difference.
Please help us bring Lamiah home. Please help protect her and her unborn baby.
Thank you for your compassion, your kindness, and your support during the most painful time of our lives.
