Local Bolsover boy Justin, just 18 years old, has suffered a serious accident while on holiday in Zante, Greece. He has a fractured pelvis and cannot walk for at least a month. Right now, he’s lying in a Greek hospital bed alone and without the care or support he desperately needs.
His travel insurance has completely denied responsibility and is refusing to help bring him home. Justin is stuck in a foreign hospital, where he hasn’t been washed, bathed, or even had help brushing his teeth in almost a week. The food is barely edible, there’s no air con, no curtains, no TV, and absolutely nothing for him to do – all while he’s trying to recover from a major injury without anyone by his side.
His mum’s passport was expired and although she’s applied for a new one urgently, the passport office won’t speed up the process without a doctor’s letter – and sadly, the doctors in Greece are not cooperating.
We are now trying to get Justin home on a stretcher via a private repatriation route, which involves a 10-hour land and ferry journey to the nearest international airport, followed by a flight with medical assistance. We’ve been quoted no less than £15,000 and like most people, his family simply does not have this kind of money. They need urgent help.
All donations will go directly toward getting Justin home safely and supporting his ongoing care. This includes:
Medical transport by ambulance from Zante to Athens
Hospital and doctor fees in Greece
Repatriation costs on a commercial flight with medical escort
The cost of a stretcher-compatible flight
Ground transport from Manchester Airport to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield
Ongoing care until he’s fully recovered
Multiple medical and transport companies are involved, and each step requires specialist arrangements and upfront payment.
We have been quoted £15,000-£19,000.
We are pleading with our local community and the wider public to help get Justin home safely. He needs to be in a UK hospital, with our NHS, surrounded by the people who love him so that he can recover the right way.
Please — if you can contribute even a small amount, it will make a difference. If you can’t donate, please share this. Let’s bring this young lad home where he belongs.
I’m Alysha, a close family friend of his mum Nicketa & his dad Dave, I’m doing everything I can to help them during this heartbreaking and urgent situation. Justin’s family has asked me to help coordinate this mission to get him home. I will manage the funds on their behalf and make payments directly to the medical transport providers, private hospitals, ambulance services, and all other verified organisations involved in Justin’s repatriation and recovery.
Full transparency will be kept, and I will ensure that every penny goes toward getting Justin home and safe.
Thank you,
From Justin’s family and friends — with all our hearts.
