Help Bring Julian Russell Home, Loved beyond Measure

Our hearts are shattered as I share the loss of my beloved son, Julian F. Russell
(08/27/1998 – 05/16/2025)
My name is Theodora “Tasha” Robinson, and I am Julian’s mother.
Julian was more than his pain—he was brilliant, compassionate, driven, and deeply loved. From a young age, Julian was a courageous, caring child who always looked out for his brothers. He had a heart full of empathy and a natural instinct to help others. Whether it was helping with homework, standing up for someone, or simply making us laugh, he was the kind of child that brought joy and peace into every room.
He went on to graduate from Kenwood High School with a 4.0 GPA, ranked among the best in MetroSquash, and traveled the country with discipline and grace. He proudly served in ROTC throughout high school, which inspired him to join the Army during the pandemic. After his service, he passed the Police Academy exam and, just last year, earned his Clinical Medical Assistant certificate. He was determined to make a difference, even while facing silent battles.
But behind his achievements, my son was fighting post-traumatic stress and depression—wounds that weren’t visible, but ones that deeply impacted his spirit.
On May 14th, Julian suffered a medical crisis in Dallas, Texas. My oldest son and I flew out immediately, praying to be by his side. When we arrived, we received the devastating news that Julian had no brain activity. I had to make the most heartbreaking decision a mother could ever face—to let my son go. This pain was made even heavier as I’m currently on a leave of absence from work due to medical reasons, trying to manage my own health while grieving the loss of my child.
I am now asking for your help to bring Julian back home to Chicago, so I can lay him to rest surrounded by the people and city he loved. Unfortunately, his life insurance does not cover the full cost of transportation, funeral, and memorial services, and this financial burden is more than I can carry alone.
Your donation will help me give Julian the peaceful, dignified farewell he deserves. No amount is too small. Your love, prayers, and support mean more than I can put into words.
Thank you for helping me honor Julian’s life, legacy, and light. Thank you for standing with us during this heartbreaking time.
