Dear friends,
With heavy heart we regretfully inform you of the passing of Juan Thelem-Malcolm, known to family as "Juanito" and to friends as "Wally" & "John" on Monday May 3, 2021. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of all he came in contact with. Our beloved Juan passed due to a battle with cancer and underlying health complications. Many who knew Juan described him as being personable , loyal, and forthright. Juan valued spending time with family members and friends. Juan was apart of the street graffiti and NYC rap scene here he was able to express himself artistically by writing and recording raps and creating street art. Juan's passing was unexpected and nothing has prepared his family and friends for this immense feeling of grief and sorrow. Juan leaves behind brothers & a sister, a niece & nephew, and a daughter.
Juan lived in New York City for many years before moving to Florida. He always considered himself a Brooklyn native. He continuously expressed interest in one day visiting New York City and reconnecting with family and old friends. In the weeks before his passing, he shared this wish with his daughter Sheniese. Juan's family would like to grant his wish by laying him to rest in NYC. Bringing Juan home to NYC will grant him the opportunity to be buried beside his mother Ana Thelem at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Juan will also be in close proximity to his father and brother Samuel Thelem as they are buried nearby.
We are all absolutely devastated by Juan's passing and are scrambling to find the funds to cover the cost of transportation, grave-digging, and a funeral service.
We would like to raise $2000 by May 15, 2021, to assist in the costs involved in a funeral service for Juan.
We would be grateful for any assistance you are able to provide.
With appreciation,
Family of Juan Thelem-Malcolm
