Jose Miguel was more than just a friend to me… he was someone who truly cared for others and always stood up for the people around him. Even though I only knew him for a few months, we became incredibly close in such a small amount of time. He was caring, a loving person, a motivating kind friend, a gym partner, and overall an angel in my life who, in many circumstances, stood up and always took care of me and made me feel appreciated.

Jose Miguel was especially excited about his future. In just two days, he was going to start working with me at my barbershop business. He was really looking forward to building his future in the barber industry and was proud to take this next step. He always felt the need to protect me and others around him, and he did so until his very last moments. He was so supportive, and always put others before himself. Sadly, it was this caring nature that led to his tragic passing. At a private gathering I hosted, Jose Miguel tried to break up and intervened in an argument going on between multiple people. In the confusion and chaos, he was shot multiple times and killed instantly. The person who shot him fled the scene, but hours after investigation the person guilty for his death is now detained.

Now, we are facing the heartbreaking task of bringing Jose Miguel home to his family in Veracruz, Mexico. His parents are there, and it’s important to all of us that he rests with his loved ones. I am working together with his cousin to arrange the transportation and cover the related expenses. Any support will help us honor Jose Miguel’s memory and give his family the chance to say goodbye.
