This week, life changed in an instant for Joseph (Jo-Jo) and his family. While visiting relatives in Virginia, Jo-Jo was found unresponsive, and since that moment, his world—and his mother’s—has been turned upside down. He is now fighting through one of the hardest battles of his life, and the road ahead is long, uncertain, and frightening.

Lisa, Jo-Jo’s mom, is a single mother of six who has always put her children and community first. She is the pillar of her family, known for her determination, faith, and the love she gives to everyone around her. But in this critical moment, Lisa needs our help. To be with her son, she must travel to Virginia Beach, leaving her job and losing income, all while facing the costs of travel, food, and lodging. No mother should have to choose between being at her child’s bedside and keeping the lights on at home.
