Help Bring Johnny Home to Rest Beside Our Mother

My name is William, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help in honoring my oldest brother, Johnny, who passed away at the age of 66. Johnny lived with autism his entire life with the mental capacity of a young child, but he carried a joy and innocence that touched everyone around him. He spent more than 30 years in a loving group home for individuals with special needs in California, where he was surrounded by people who cared deeply for him. He adored bright colors, soft blankets, and especially Stitch — the character that always made him smile.

On January 28th, Johnny was taken to the hospital with severe breathing difficulties and sepsis. Despite oxygen and antibiotics, his condition did not improve, and he passed away peacefully just before midnight on February 1st. In his final days, friends, family, doctors, and Nurses reminded him how loved he was. Although I live out of state, I was kept informed by so many caring individuals during this difficult time and feel humbled and blessed that he received such care and love.

I am now trying to bring Johnny home to Washington so he can be laid to rest next to our mother at Mills & Mills Memorial Park in Tumwater. This is where he belongs — beside the woman who raised five boys under unimaginable hardship, and whose love shaped us even through years of poverty, foster care, and separation. Because of my own health challenges, including ulcerative colitis and ongoing medical expenses, I am unable to travel or cover the costs on my own. This is not just about logistics. It’s about giving my brother the dignity, peace, and closeness he deserves. It’s about closing a chapter of our family’s story with love instead of regret.

If you are able to contribute, share, or simply keep our family in your thoughts, I am deeply grateful. Every act of kindness helps bring Johnny home. Thank you for helping me honor his life.
