Help Bring John Kristinik Home

What began as a once-in-a-lifetime celebration has become an unimaginable journey for the Kristinik family.

John Kristinik was on a cruise celebrating his 80th birthday when on April 26th, he suffered a massive stroke and was rushed to a hospital in Kenya, Africa. Since then, John has undergone multiple brain surgeries, pneumonia and remains in serious condition in ICU. He is currently nonverbal, and the road ahead remains uncertain.

John's partner, Mary, remains by his side in Kenya, while his daughter Erin works tirelessly from the United States. Together, they are coordinating medical care, communicating with doctors, navigating insurance questions, and making difficult decisions as they advocate for John every step of the way. Despite the distance, they have worked closely together to ensure John receives the best possible care.

As the family works to determine the best path forward, they are facing significant expenses that may include ongoing medical care in Kenya, a medically supervised evacuation flight back to the United States, rehabilitation, long-term care, and travel costs. The extraordinary demands of this medical crisis have already stretched the family's financial resources, with significant expenses still ahead and many unknowns remaining.

What is clear is that John, Mary, and Erin need the support of their communities.
This fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial burden so the family can focus on what matters most: John's care, recovery, and ultimately bringing him home.
As many of you know, John served our country as a Navy pilot and Vietnam veteran. Throughout his life, he has answered the call to serve others with courage, dedication, and quiet strength.

If you are able, please consider making a donation. Every gift, no matter the amount, will help support the Kristinik family during this difficult and uncertain time.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping John, Mary, Erin, and all who love them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
