On December 25th we flew into Guatemala for a family vacation. The very next day my Dad was hospitalized. He was diagnosed with a bacterial pnuemonia and later, additionally, aspergillius fungus in the lungs. He has been dependent on oxygen since he was admitted, over two weeks ago. My Mom and I want to bring him back to DC and the only way to do this safely is by Air Ambulance. The Air Ambulance was pricey, to begin with, but because my Dad is still needing a large amount of oxygen the only way to take him is by a "sea level" flight which will take longer and require more fuel. Therefore, the price has increased as well.
My parents are currently living on their saved money for retirement and the small amount of money my Dad brings in monthly from his business, which he still runs at 86 years old. There is no choice but for our family to pay this to get my Dad back to the States but I don't want this unfortunate situation to be a significant financial setback in their "retirement years".
Thanks in advance for all your love and support in this crazy situation.
