JED UNDEAD
A STORY ABOUT DECAPITATION, ACCEPTANCE, AND ROCK AND ROLL!
HEY!
We’re Jon and Kyan! We’re two young, award-winning filmmakers from Cleveland, Ohio, who are looking to dive deep into our darkest, most ludicrous, and most heartfelt story yet.
With our team of incredible filmmaking students and professionals, The Boys in the Back create short films that seek to inspire joy and creativity in our audiences and tell stories that matter.
We’d describe our style of movie-making as “reality at one hundred.” Through our storytelling, we like to highlight themes of friendship, self-discovery, as well as the beauty and absurdity of life. Jed Undead is all of that, and more, and it’s shaping up to be the most ambitious project we've ever tackled.
THE STORY!
Two young Amish brothers, Ezekiel and Jedediah Frank, live on a small farm in rural central Ohio along with their quiet younger sister Mary, who is constantly pestered by Tony, Jedediah’s rock-star outsider friend. Jedediah, curious and open-minded, wants nothing more than to see the world beyond their tight-knit community. Ezekiel, the traditional and inflexible head of the family, wants nothing to do with it.
After a tragic accident involving a scythe, Ezekiel mistakenly beheads his brother. With Tony's help, Ezekiel uses electricity and breaks the rules for the first time in his life to bring Jedediah back.
After this new, zombie-like version of Jed is discovered by the community, a violent mob vows to bring Ezekiel to justice and kill his “monster.” Now on the run, the unlikely trio flee to the big city of Cleveland for a rumspringa they’ll never forget.
WHY THIS FILM?
Jed Undead seeks to explore who we label as “monsters,” through the lens of religion and identity.
This film is about very different people forming connections. It’s about the power of challenging beliefs and accepting people as they are. In a time where people are more divided than ever, we'd like to emphasize that we all have more in common than we think.
Cinematic experiences are often viewed as an escape from reality, but Jed Undead offers you a chance to laugh at the most dramatic and absurdist version of our lives. “Reality at one hundred.”
This film is also a love letter to the state of Ohio and its many oddities. We’re incredibly proud to come from a place that houses and is able to connect many different communities and cultures. From the big cities to the rolling countryside, Ohio is a much more diverse place than one would normally assume.
VISUAL STYLE AND INFLUENCES!
If you like gothic horror and buddy comedies with a little drama thrown in the mix, then you’ll love Jed Undead!
If you like The Addams Family, Lisa Frankenstein, Weekend At Bernie’s, Nosferatu, Bottoms, or Coraline, you’ll love Jed Undead!
We’d like to highlight the transition between the mundane and the extraordinary through clever camera tricks, dynamic color changes, and a focus on our beautiful Ohio farmland and cityscape locations.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Making movies is very costly, and as a completely independent group of filmmakers, we need your generosity to make this film a reality. We have plans to shoot all around the state of Ohio, and need to cover the costs of transportation, equipment, locations, props, costumes, and food for our cast and crew.
Any donation of any monetary amount made out to the production will receive a special thanks in the credits of our film!
Wanna help us out for free? Share this GoFundMe to your friends and family! Spread the word about our project! Volunteer as an extra for our film! Any and all support is appreciated.
If you’d like to reach out to us personally, feel free to DM @bitbproductions on Instagram! Drop us a follow while you're there!
We hope you’ll decide to help us in funding our most ambitious creative endeavor to date, and make our gay, Amish, Frankenstein legend a reality!
ROCKING ROLL!
