Hi, my name is Jasmin, and I’m fundraising for something incredibly urgent and personal—helping my 12-year-old daughter, Jaya, come home from the hospital.
Several months ago, Jaya experienced a sudden medical crisis that left her paralyzed; a rare spinal cord stroke. Since then, she’s been hospitalized, and I’ve been by her side around the clock. She’s finally stable enough to come home soon—but here’s the problem:
She can’t be discharged because our current home is not wheelchair accessible—and it cannot be modified to become accessible.
We had an official assessment done, and the structure of the home—narrow doors, high steps, and an inaccessible walkway—makes it impossible to safely bring her home. That leaves us with one option: we have to move.
But I’ve been out of work while taking care of Jaya, and my self-employment income isn’t enough for a landlord to approve a new lease. I don’t have the upfront costs for a move, and affordable, accessible housing is already hard to come by.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
What We’re Raising Funds For:
I’m trying to raise $23,000 to cover the full cost of relocating into a wheelchair-accessible unit, including:
12 months of rent at $1,400/month — giving us time to get stable
First and last month’s rent + security deposit (standard lease requirement)
Pet fees for our cat, who has been a huge emotional support
Moving costs and a small emergency buffer
GoFundMe’s fees
Any extra will go towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van which is needed for her electric wheelchair for travel outside of medical appointments.
Every dollar goes toward giving Jaya the basic human right of having a home she can return to—and the dignity and safety that comes with that.
How You Can Help
1. Donate – Any amount helps, big or small. The first 5-10 donations really help this campaign gain traction.
2. Share – Please repost this on social media or send it to your network
3. Support in any way you can – Words of encouragement, prayer, or even a lead on housing
We’re not asking for a miracle—just a shot at stability. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Your support means the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
Jasmin & Jaya
