Hey everyone, my name is Di, Im fund-raising for my close friend/Sista Rachel Penno, whos Son Jayden had been missing for 8yrs. Im also Admin for Jays Help Find page on Facebook.

Jayden Penno-Tompsett 22yrs old went missing on 31/12/2017 in Charters Towers QLD Australia whilst on a road trip from Newcastle NSW to Cairns QLD with a travel companion.

It is alleged the two had an argument in the car. Jayden pulled over and supposedly ran into bush in a rural area off the Flinders Highway to calm down.

In a statement to police, his travel companion said he drove off for 20 minutes before returning to the area only to find Jayden had gone. Simply vanished and disappeared, never to be seen again. The companion continued on his way to Cairns, leaving Jay behind in a place he'd never been before and 1800klms away from home.

Jayden wasn't reported missing to police for another 3 days.

For 8yrs his Mum Rachel, never stopped looking for her boy. She left no stone unturned in the search to find him and bring him home. Her whole world collapsed that day, her only child, gone.

QLD Police and SES covered 85sq klms in the search for Jay. Nothing was ever found. Nothing!

8yrs of heartache, the torment of not knowing where Jay was, she suffered horrendous pain physically, emotionally and mentally. Living with ambiguous loss each day, every day and it continues.

The Coroners findings from an inquest held in 2021, found Jayden was most likely deceased by way of exposure to the elements.

In October 2025, human remains were located on a property in Breddan, Charters Towers. The remains were forensically tested and identified as belonging to Jayden, in January 2026. Police are now preparing a report for the Coroner.

This broken Mum now needs our help more than ever. Im reaching out to all of you to assist me in raising the funds needed to bring her precious boy home.

Your donations will go towards helping Rach achieve that. Although I don't have the exact amount of money needed to do so, I do know it will be expensive.

The money Rachel will have to outlay will go towards:

1. A probable cremation in QLD of the remains that were found.

2. The cost of transporting Jay from QLD to NSW.

3. Funding another funeral home in Newcastle to "accept" Jay.

4. Funeral funds for burial or placement in a Niche Wall, or for Rach to keep his ashes in an urn to take him home. (Whatever her heart wishes to do. )

5. Memorial plaque

6. Ongoing support and counselling

7. Possible searches in the future to find more of Jay

8. Possible future legal costs
