Help bring Jayne back from her stroke

Hi, I'm Tim Callahan, and I'm raising funds for my friend of 61 years, David Ratti and his wife, Jayne Della Ratta. Jayne suffered a massive stroke in December 2021 and has been in a nursing home trying to learn to swallow, talk, eat, walk, and relearn the most basic life skills. She has a long and difficult path to travel, but we believe that her strong faith in God and love of humanity will serve her well in her recovery. Dave is by her side every single day at the nursing home, helping the nursing and rehab staff as they establish and struggle to meet daily goals with Jayne. The cost for the nursing home is $1400 per week, with current charges of over $16,000 and no definitive discharge date (we hope by end of March). Later, when she can return home, handicap modifications will be necessary to enable Jayne to function in her home with her handicap. This will include a ramp and first-floor bedroom and bathroom modifications. Jayne will also need continued professional personal care help at home, which could run more than $1000/week.

 

Jayne and Dave are retired and have been very active in helping youth from New York and Southern Vermont experience the wonders of the outdoors and wilderness experiences available in the Adirondack and Green Mountains. As a couple, they have brought multitudes of teens camping, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, and hiking the high peaks. They have exposed these kids to the rewards of mountain trail stewardship in Vermont and New York and helped them develop new perspectives for life's possibilities.

Now in their time of intense struggle, Jayne can use your help. The financial burden of her rehabilitation is crushing, and it will be a long-term, life-altering struggle for both Jayne and Dave.  Please keep them in your prayers.
