Help bring Isla home!

Isla Maude Zawko was born in Seattle, Washington, 3 months early at 26 weeks 6 days, weighing 2 pounds and 5 ounces. Isla has struggled through crisis after crisis, showing herself to be "mighty in battle" as the meaning of her name, Maude, declares. Isla was born on Thursday, Dec. 7, and went straight to the NICU for care that would continue for 91 days. Her parents both returned to work during those difficult days choosing to be with Isla as much as possible, but planning to take off time when Isla would come home. Megan began her maternity leave when Isla was dismissed from the hospital and David has continued to work his full-time job as an architect. Now time is drawing near for Megan to go back to work but it is clear that some drastic changes are needed. Neither David or Megan have family members within 2000 miles. Isla is still on oxygen and is continuing to struggle with feeding problems. As a micro-preemie, Isla has been diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease and has a congenital heart defect, pulmonary valve stenosis. Her progress is continually being monitored and just taking her to medical appointments numerous times a week is a huge task. David, Megan, and little Isla, need to relocate from the West Coast to be with family and close friends who can support them in this journey. At this time they are making plans to move back to Kentucky where David is from so they can receive help and support from extended family. They are negotiating ending the lease on their home, moving costs for over 2000 miles of travel across the country, details of travel for Isla who can't fly commercially so they have to drive, and many other challenging arrangements. They have been struggling financially with medical bills piling up and the occurrence of continual unplanned crises. Just last week Isla had to go on an expensive medicine that was not covered by insurance and and they had to pay for it out of pocket. We are hoping to raise $10,000 to pay for the relocation of the Zawko family to Kentucky. Anything you can give to this fund would be appreciated. We would love to see them come home by the end of July.
