My name is Valerie Sanders Lewis, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support. My beloved brother, Howard (Shane) Sanders III, was a loving and kind-hearted person who cherished his son Malik and family above all else. Shane recently passed away unexpectedly in Arizona, leaving our family devastated. He had just started a new job last week, and his benefit package was in the interim phase. Therefore, unfortunately, he had no life insurance. This has left us facing the difficult challenge of bringing him home to Michigan so we can lay him to rest surrounded by loved ones.
The costs of transporting Shane from Arizona to Michigan, along with funeral expenses, are more than our family can manage on our own. Although my brother served in the Army for a short period of time, we have reached out to the Military about burial benefits, but we are learning this is not an overnight process. In the meantime, we have to prepare to bring him home. As someone who has always been a giver, it is incredibly hard for me to ask for help. But in this moment, I know that we cannot do this alone. We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support during this time of need.
Your generosity will help us honor Shane’s memory and give him the farewell he deserves. I know God is a Way Maker and a Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the Darkness, and He never stops working. The Sanders family is forever grateful for any contribution you can make, no matter the amount. Your kindness and support mean the world to us as we navigate this heartbreaking loss. Thank you in advance for your help, your prayers, and your love. Peace, gratitude, and blessings to you all.
Love, the family of Howard Sanders III
