On October 26, 2023, Amber had an anaphylactic reaction to an iron infusion.
The myriad of complications necessitated radiological screenings that revealed a mass on the left side of her skull.
A craniectomy is scheduled at Duke University, on January 25th. Testing will follow to determine if the mass is cancerous.
Traveling from West Virginia, it is necessary that Amber and her husband stay in Durham, North Carolina, pre-and post-surgery for a collective twelve days.
Amber has temporarily closed her business due to medical complications involving the mass. She will be unable to work post-surgery, for a number of months, as recovery will require her full attention. Fortunately, her husband will be able to be with her throughout the surgery and post-surgical stay. However, he will be required to use unpaid family medical leave.
This has placed a great financial burden on their family.
My sister is a warm, generous soul. Those that know her, know she is always the first to lend a helping hand. She does so with grace and compassion.
My hope is that, in her time of need, she will feel the love and compassion that so beautifully surrounds her.
