Hi, I am a small business owner that supports my family. My truck, Spirit of America, has been around to many different events and disasters, helping people in need. Last year, I went with workers and equipment and helped with the great Appalachian floods in Kentucky and Virginia. We had some major breakdowns, and footing the two-week-long tours has set me back financially, which has been a slow comeback.
With that said, at this time, there is another major flood disaster currently going on for Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and I desperately want to go help rescue people, bring supplies, and do whatever we can. I have 3 volunteers ready to go, my trucks, trailers, skid steer, chainsaws, generators, hand tools, etc. We are ready to go; we just need funding for our fuels, oils, chains for saws, food, and water for us. We will be rough camping in the truck on the ground and working long hours. There's no rooms or motels, etc., because the people that are put out need them more. Water is contaminated or there's no power to get water, food, or supplies, so all must be brought with us, fuels and all.
We help everyone when we get there, but I tend to find more of the less fortunate that don't have insurance or money to get things done, elderly, etc. Things we do first will be to assist in any search and rescue, people or animals in distress, hurt, trapped, open roads, driveways, private or state, to be passable enough to get emergency and supplies, using skid steer to build up washouts, possible temporary bridges to support small vehicles, cut and clear trees, and help build temporary shelters if needed for those that can't. We will also buy extra water, first aid, etc., supplies to drop off to people. We also tend to target the out-of-the-way back roads and places where there aren't as many resources. Please help ASAP! The quicker we can go, the better! They need us yesterday.
