*POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING*
In November of 2023, our family’s life was forever changed. We took our 7 week old infant, Holston to the emergency room for a swollen thigh. Our lives were forever changed in that moment. Never in our wildest imagination did we think we would be put through the nightmare that we continue to endure.
We were shocked to learn that Holston’s leg was broken. Upon finding a fractured femur, the ER doctor ordered a full bone survey and we were told that Holston also had other fractures in various stages of healing. Holston had no bruising nor had he ever had any bruises. A CT scan was performed and confirmed no internal bruising. An ophthalmologist examined him and concluded that he had never been shaken. His lab results were abnormal indicating that he was deficient in vitamin D and phosphorous (both related to poor bone health). In spite of all of this, the hospital instantly accused us of child abuse and contacted Child Protective Services. The state immediately took legal custody of our baby.
In the months that have followed, we have been searching for answers on our own because we know we have never abused our precious son. We quickly discovered that we are not alone in this fight and that there are thousands of families across the US that have had their rights violated and lives torn apart by false accusations of child abuse. We continued to search for answers for Holston’s condition since the accusing hospital has refused to acknowledge that there is a medical explanation for his fractures. We have been to multiple hospitals and specialist begging for answers.
In March of 2024 our family travelled to Boston to meet with Dr. Michael Holick who finally provided a diagnosis and gave us hope. Holston was diagnosed with infantile rickets and Elhers Danlos Syndrome Hypermoblie type, which provides a medical explanation for his fractures. This diagnosis was later confirmed by 2 additional medical experts. Even with his diagnosis we are still fighting to get our little man home! Our families have been forced to hire 2 separate attorneys and to date, have spent over $100,000 on legal fees and medical experts. Our fight continues because the Child Abuse Pediatrician at the accusing hospital and Child Protective Services are refusing to acknowledge his medical condition. In essence, they have medically kidnapped our son.
We know everything happens for a reason and that God is in control. Our faith remains strong and we will continue to believe that God will soon bring our family back together. In the meantime, we are asking for help to continue our fight. We also want to spread awareness of the medical kidnapping epidemic that is destroying so many families like ours across the country.
If you feel led to help our family in any way we would greatly appreciate it. Even if you can’t donate, please share our story.
God bless and thank you.
