HELP BRING HISTORY TO LIFE

Donation protected
The never before told story of the terminal grain elevators of Duluth-Superior will soon be going to print. With your help, my history of the rise of the Twin Ports as the grain exporting capital of the nation will see the light of day. I am looking to raise $5,000 to help offset my costs for the publishing of this book.

Hello, I’m Patrick Lapinski, author, historian, and chronicler of these amazing structures. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share my research with those who have an affinity for history and ear for a darn interesting story. Over the past thirty years I have been researching and capturing the rich saga of these giant terminals. In conjunction with the prestigious Afton Press / Calumet Books, this story will soon be in print, with a highly anticipated summer 2024 release date.

As a writer and photojournalist, a large part of my life has been dedicated to documenting the Great Lakes maritime industry and the men and women who sail its waters. As a researcher and historian, I have looked closer to my home port of Superior to nurture my curiosity. In 2017 I published the highly regarded history of the legendary Fraser Shipyards. It is time to add to the legacy!

My new history of the Twin Ports grain industry will add to a body of work that will thrill the average reader while contributing an academically rigorous history. The book will contain historical exterior photographs, as well as original photography taken within many of the elevators within the harbor, giving the reader an inside view of these mechanical wonders.

I appeal to you to please help tell this story. The cost of publishing can be daunting. Every dollar donated to this project will go towards the expense of publishing this book. Your contribution will help tell the story of these waterfront marvels, documenting a legacy that everyone associated with this industry can take pride in.
