Hi, my name is Andrew Glener, and I’m a film student at Emerson College, currently in pre-production for my senior BFA thesis film, He's Not Alone, filming this fall in Boston, MA. This deeply personal story explores love, grief, and healing through the lens of a young queer man struggling to accept the loss of his partner.
We’re raising $4,000 to help bring this film to life and to support an important cause while doing it! 15% of all funds raised will be donated to The Trevor Project, a life-saving organization providing crisis intervention and mental health support to LGBTQ+ youth.
Plot Summary
He's Not Alone is a psychological queer drama that follows Jack, a young man trying to move on from a devastating accident without fully facing what he’s lost. Desperate to return to a sense of normalcy, Jack surrounds himself with familiar routines, friends, and above all, the comforting presence of his boyfriend, Tyler.
Jack and his boyfriend Tyler, share a deep, joyful bond. From romantic dinners and quiet afternoons in the park to the small, loving gestures that only real partners share, their connection feels undeniably real. But as the story unfolds, something feels…off. Jack’s experiences with Tyler grow more surreal, the world around them reacts strangely, and Jack’s grip on what’s reality starts to warp.
Through a carefully crafted blend of heartfelt moments and haunting visual storytelling, He's Not Alone explores how grief can twist reality, how love can continue to thrive even after death, and how healing begins when we’re brave enough to face the truth.
As Jack spirals between connection and delusion, the audience is taken on a deeply emotional journey that reflects the real struggles so many individuals face with love, mental health, and loss.
At its core, He's Not Alone is about letting go, moving forward, and realizing that you are never truly alone, even in your darkest moments.

Why This Film Matters!
He's Not Alone is an emotional queer romance film that explores love, loss, and grief. As a queer man myself, I feel that it is important for me to create this heartbreakingly beautiful story because I want this to add to queer representation in entertainment! Growing up, I rarely felt seen due to the overwhelming heteronormativity in film. However, the rise in queer storylines in recent years has brought me immense joy and helped me feel more comfortable with my own sexuality. The process of creating this story with two queer characters, whose love for each other knows no bounds, has been a full circle moment for me.
This film will heavily focus on the grieving process and its psychological impact. I've always had an interest in the way people experience grief and how it permanently shapes their lives. Through my own experiences with grief and listening to others share their stories, I realize that no two people grieve in the same way. I want He's Not Alone to highlight how grief can be both so debilitating and impactful on someone's life, while also emphasizing the importance of seeking proper mental health care after suffering the loss of a loved one.
He's Not Alone is a story from the heart, and I’m determined to tell it with authenticity, emotional honesty, and respect for those who may see themselves in Jack. The Trevor Project's mission to support LGBTQ+ youth is directly in line with the themes of this story, and that's why we’re proud to give back.
Thank you so much for considering a donation to support queer storytelling and LGBTQ+ mental health. With your help, we can make something that truly matters.

Meet The Producers!
Andrew Glener is a senior at Emerson College studying Media Arts Production with a minor in Business Studies. Based in Mamaroneck, New York, Andrew has been a creative force for as long as he can remember, starting at the age of 7 when he performed in his first musical. He continued being involved in theatre and the performing arts, but when the whole world shut down in 2020, Andrew needed a new creative outlet. He began creating and posting scenes and skits on TikTok that were musical theatre-oriented, and this little hobby of his garnered over 12,000 followers. This sparked his interest in the entertainment industry as a whole, as well as his desire to be a writer and director. Throughout his time at Emerson, Andrew has developed his skills in screenwriting and directing, as well as involving himself in multiple student films and studio television shows. Notable crew roles include: Logistics Producer (I’m Seeing Someone), Script Supervisor (Indulgence), and Stage Manager (The Box Score), among many others. Andrew has recently released projects of his own, including Back to First Position, a short film he wrote and directed, and the Alive Again music video, for which he served as both director and cinematographer, earning him an EVVY nomination for Outstanding Music Video.
Gianna Ballin is a media creator and storyteller from Easton, Pennsylvania, who believes in the power of art to move people. For her, storytelling isn’t just a craft; it’s a way to build understanding, offer joy, and make others feel seen. Her journey began in community theater and creative spaces where collaboration was everything. Over time, that spark grew into a deep passion for media arts, leading her to Emerson College, where she’s majoring in Media Arts Production with minors in Business Studies and Comedy Writing & Performance. Since then, Gianna has taken on many roles: field reporter, associate producer, executive producer, and most recently, a public relations intern at the Cannes Film Festival with Jane Owen PR. There, she worked on red carpets, supported talent and press, and gained firsthand experience in the global entertainment industry. Each step has reinforced her belief that great storytelling doesn’t just entertain, it connects. Whether she’s working behind the camera or helping shape the atmosphere on set, Gianna brings empathy, focus, and creativity to every project. She’s currently continuing her work on student films and industry projects while also planning for the next stages of her creative career.
Rebecca Wong is a filmmaker from Tenafly, New Jersey. She believes that the arts have a way of communicating emotions in a powerful manner that touches people’s hearts, so her goal in creating art is to connect with individuals on a deeper level with the stories she tells. Her love for the arts started when she was young, but her career started when her photograph “Am I to Blame?” (2021) was published in the New York Times. Since then, she has been involved in projects ranging from student films to short-form content, photoshoots, studio television shows, music videos, and independent feature and short films. Her love of technical knowledge has led her to produce work with organizations such as The Emerson Channel for Seasons 1 and 2 of Backyard Boston, and Emerson Independent Video for the short film In Your Head. (2024). Outside of Emerson, she is involved in behind-the-scenes work with her job as a runner at Be Electric Studios in New York City for various clients ranging from low to high budget productions. Rebecca is currently writing and directing a short Asian American drama called Keep (Everything) Safe, which will serve as her BFA at Emerson College.
