Hi everyone, my name is Crystal.

I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this, but our family is in urgent need.

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, my husband Heriberto was detained during a routine ICE check-in. He has been complying with all requirements, holds a valid work permit, and we are currently in the consular process to adjust his status through our marriage.

This Monday, January 26, we will have been married 8 years. We have three young children together, and I am currently 7 months pregnant with our fourth. Since his detention, our lives have been completely turned upside down. Watching our children cry for their dad and ask when he’s coming home has been absolutely heartbreaking He is the light of their lives and mine.

We have been praying and hoping for the best, but we’ve been advised that the best way to fight his continued detention is to retain a federal attorney to file a writ of habeas corpus, which challenges unlawful detention. The legal fees for this start around $8,000-10,000, not including any bond that may be set afterward.

Nunca pensé tener que pedir ayuda de esta manera, pero hoy nuestra familia la necesita de corazón.

El miércoles 21 de enero de 2026, mi esposo Heriberto fue detenido durante una cita rutinaria con ICE. Él siempre ha cumplido con todo, tiene permiso de trabajo vigente, y estamos en el proceso consular para arreglar su estatus migratorio por medio de nuestro matrimonio.

Este lunes, 26 de enero, cumplimos 8 años de casados. Tenemos tres hijos pequeños y actualmente estoy embarazada de 7 meses de nuestro cuarto bebé. Desde que él fue detenido, nuestra vida cambió por completo. Es muy doloroso ver a nuestros hijos llorar por su papá y preguntarme cuándo va a regresar a casa. Él es todo para ellos y también para mí.

Hemos estado orando y esperando lo mejor, pero nos han aconsejado contratar a un abogado federal para presentar un amparo (habeas corpus) y así pelear su detención injusta. Los gastos legales para este proceso comienzan alrededor de $8,000 a 10,000 sin contar la fianza que pudiera fijarse después.
