We're a team of students in Southern California creating a TV web series pilot.

The story follows Lina, an eleven-year-old whose foster parents died in an accident, who is left with her ailing foster grandma.

Knowing she risks being taken away by Child Protective Services from the only family she has, Lina and Grandma have to convince CPS that her grandma is capable of caring for her, so Lina can stay with her grandmother. At this point, all they have is each other.

The story is very close to Helen Liu, our writer. After her mom passed away from cancer, her special-needs sister was taken into custody by Child Protective Services in 2016, and it wasn’t until nine years later, this year, 2025, that Helen's family was finally able to reconnect and talk with her. Through this process, the family realized how much they needed her, just as much as she needed them.
