Hello, my name is Tenae Imani,
I am a second year filmmaker that goes to DePaul University, who is looking to raise funds for my first short film.
Story
On prom night, a mysterious text from an unknown number changes everything.
Set in the 2010s, the story takes place during a school prom night, where it’s you and your girls against the world. That is, except for Sarah, Emily, Danielle, and Natalie. After the death of Emily’s brother and fellow student, Sean, the girls' relationship is never the same. Emily is determined to repair their lives, even if it means digging in a few ditches.
Director’s Statement
The Whimsical, Cynical Tales of the Girls' Bathroom centers around growing up and experiencing loss at a young age, whether it’s loss of friends, family, your childhood, and coping with grief. The film explores the question, “What do you need for closure?” For some people, it’s one last conversation. One last night. The world encourages us to always get closure. But what if you never have it? What if that’s not the point? The point is to carry the grief and the lessons we learn with it.
Mission Statement
Our film aims to tell this story between women characters, especially women of color. The girls’ bathroom is where the best conversations, lore, and true bonding take place. It is a world to itself. This project is a love letter to best friends who broke up. The girls who had to deal with loss before they ever found themselves. The drunk girl who threw up in a stall. An ode to girlhood in its many shapes and forms.
Donation Use
All donations will go towards production, meaning costumes, props, stunt coordination, and feeding all the performers and crew. If you are unable to donate, please help by sharing our fundraiser.
