Help bring fernie home (attorney $)

Hello friends, family, and community,

My name is Nicole De La Torre and I am the aunt of Fernando Lopez Zamora. Fernando is diagnosed with Hurler’s Syndrome (Mucopolysaccharidoses), a congenital disorder that lacks a specific enzyme called alpha-L iduronidase in his body. Studies show that children with Hurler’s Syndrome live a life span of 10-20 years. Fernando is 13 years old and his quality of life is of utmost importance now and in future years to come. He is currently staying with a foster parent that is trying to adopt him, which is making it harder for my family to get him back. 


I have created this GoFundMe account to raise money for an attorney who will help us bring Fernando home. My family and I have been fighting to bring him home for 2 years, and it has not been possible. At this time, we feel that it is best to bring Fernando home to be surrounded by family who love him. However, the court does not allow that. Throughout his whole life, Fernando’s grandmother has been taking care of him and has dedicated her life to his wellbeing. We have complied with all the demands that the court has ordered from us, yet the judge still refuses to let Fernando come home.


I am currently an undergrad at California State University, Los Angeles and my mother works full time at a minimum wage job. With that being said we cannot afford to pay for an attorney on our own. Friends, family, and community please help us raise enough money to get a good attorney that will help us bring Fernando home. He is a beloved grandson, nephew, cousin, and brother, whose life is valuable and limited. God bless you all and thank you.
